Users of WhatsApp can select a maximum duration of three months for UPI-based international payments, according to the tipster.
WhatsApp Developing Global Payment Capabilities for UPI: Expansion Plans Leaked
According to a recent leak, WhatsApp may be working on facilitating international payments using its in-app Unified Payments Interface (UPI) service. In November 2020, WhatsApp Payments, also known as WhatsApp Pay, made its in-app debut for Indian consumers. Due to the presence of other platforms that had previously established themselves, the platform’s debut into the payments industry was deemed delayed. The well-known messaging app is now expected to expand its banking service’s user base by introducing international payments with a three-month maximum limit.
International Payments on WhatsApp through UPI for Indian users.
This is currently not available for users. But WhatsApp might be working on it as I couldn't find anything on Google about it.
Apps like Phonepe, GPay and some others already support this. #Whatsapp pic.twitter.com/OE2COo89eZ

Tipster @AssembleDebug provided the information about the feature in a post on X (previously known as Twitter) titled “International Payments on WhatsApp through UPI for Indian users.” Users cannot currently access this. However, because I couldn’t discover anything on Google about it, WhatsApp might be working on it. Along with screenshots of the functionality, the tipster withheld the name of the beta version that included it.
Under the Forgot UPI PIN option in the Payments menu, there is a new option visible in the screenshot. When the suggested feature, “International payments,” is clicked, a separate screen appears where users can enable or disable the option and select its start and end dates. According to the screenshot, in order to activate the feature, users will need to input their UPI PIN.
Users can send money to specific overseas merchants and complete transactions using international payments if they have an Indian bank account. Only in nations where banks have approved international UPI services will the feature function. In India, UPI payments made internationally automatically expire and must then be manually reactivated. This phase in WhatsApp might last three months, according to the tipster. Google Pay, on the other hand, provides a seven-day transaction timeframe. Prominent participants in the UPI market, such as PhonePe and Google Pay, currently provide the service.
